   Jesus told the parable of the sower, the seed and the soil. The seed is the enscripturated word of God. How it grows depends on the soil, that is, the mind and heart of the one who receives the seed. Growth can be hindered by “weeds” and by “pests”. In the Church, conflict regarding the “owning” and the sowing of the seed was and is a great hindrance, but God, nevertheless, continues to bring forth new growth.
   The growth in the 18th and 19th centuries , as people across the world received the word was phenomenal.
