   Jesus’ disciples took the Good News of Christ out to the world with burning conviction. They faced animosity from the Jewish authorities, opposition from pagan communities and, for over 200 years, great persecution from the Roman governors. Despite the cruel deaths of many thousands, the Church grew stronger. The most dangerous threat came from false teachers and those seeking a following for themselves.
