When a former Australian politician looked at an area of conflict and corruption in the Middle East, he made this facetious comment: “If there is a God, I wish she would do something about this and soon”.
There is a God. He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He made mankind in His own image. He is righteous and just, and when a nation, especially one that has known Him, becomes grievously corrupt He moves to intervene. If that nation ignores Him and become irredeemable, He sends judgment. He may remove that nation. The northern Kingdom of Israel in the 8th century BC was ripe for such judgment.
